December 2016 Currency Exchange Rates

In December the monthly average value of the U.S. dollar appreciated against two of the three major currencies we track. The greenback advanced by 2.3% against the euro and 7.0% against the yen, but depreciated by 0.7% against Canada’s “loonie.” On a trade-weighted index basis, the dollar strengthened by 1.5% against a basket of 26 currencies.
