August 2013 Currency Exchange Rates

In August the monthly average value of the U.S. dollar depreciated against two of the three major currencies we track: by 1.9 percent relative to the yen and 1.7 percent against the euro. The dollar was unchanged against Canada’s loonie. On a trade-weighted index basis, the dollar weakened by 0.1 percent against a basket of 26 currencies.
