In
January the monthly average value of the U.S. dollar was mixed against the three
major currencies we track. The greenback gained 3.6% against Canada’s “loonie”
and 0.3% against the euro, but depreciated 2.8% against the yen. On a
trade-weighted index basis, the dollar strengthened by 2.3% against a basket of
26 currencies.
