In
August the monthly average value of the U.S. dollar gained ground against two
of the three major currencies we track. The greenback appreciated by 0.8%
against Canada’s “loonie” and 0.5% against the yen, but depreciated by 0.1%
against the euro. On a trade-weighted index basis, the dollar strengthened by 0.8%
against a basket of 26 currencies.
